ABSTRACT. Human-animal-landscape relations are emotionally colored and often accompanied by an open expression of emotions. This article describes the role of emotions in the process of corral works in the Taimyr Peninsula. An author considers how people conduct a veterinary treatment and how they sort reindeer. It also describes the process of herds’ division into smaller parts where emotional intensity is an indispensable fragment of the process of reindeer domestication that enables a herder to coordinate the actions of various social agents. A lasso and a dog, particularities of the landscape, skills of reindeer herders to catch animals, as well as an open expression of emotions are an integral part of the coral works. An important ability of herders is a skill to a quick response to the changes occurring around. Emotional pressure can unite various actors and allows them to hold together for some time, creating the opportunity to work with the herd in the situation when a coral is absent. Openly expressing emotions, reindeer herders increase for some time the concentration of animals in certain places. Thus, emotions can be considered as an integral part of the domestication technologies, which allow uniting people and animals in space and making their relationship more intimate.
