ABSTRACT. The article is devoted to the study of the fate of Peter the Great's legacy during the reign of Anna Ioannovna. The special veneration of the first Russian emperor, which took shape in the last years of his life and took shape during the reigns of Catherine I and Peter II, was noticeably adjusted after the accession of Anna Ioannovna to the throne. This circumstance should be largely associated with the change in the family priorities of the ruling dynasty in these years, which was manifested in the specific actions of the Empress. During the reign of Anna Ioannovna, there was a demonstration of attention to the precepts of Peter I, manifested in the holding of a number of memorial events dedicated to his memory, and the adoption of a number of legislative acts that continued the initiatives of the first emperor in the sphere of both domestic and foreign policy. At the same time, the Empress by her actions clearly demonstrates a negative attitude towards the members of the second family of Peter I — Tsarevna Elizabeth Petrovna and members of the family of Tsarevna Anna Petrovna, seeing them as competitors in the fight in the struggle for power. At the same time, the Empress demonstrates special reverence for other members of the ruling dynasty, including her father Tsar Ivan Alekseevich, grandfather Alexei Mikhailovich and other relatives. As a result, it is concluded that the vicissitudes associated with the succession to the throne after the death of Peter I, complex and ambiguous relations within the royal family, an attempt to consolidate the succession to the throne behind the line of Tsar Ivan Alekseevich, as well as the peculiarities of the government course during the reign of his daughter — all this was reflected in the peculiarities of the refraction of the cult of the first Russian emperor in the 1730s.
