ABSTRACT. The article considers the process of creating private museums of Tatar culture that is developing in Siberia at the present stage. They are established by residents on the basis of the preserved estates of their ancestors or local religious figures. In modern conditions these objects are becoming the main centres for preserving the culture, art and life of the Tatar people in their areas. The activities carried out by individual museums to attract tourists from the region leads to the promotion of the achievements of the Tatar folk culture in the region, and hence the preservation of the Tatar national identity of local residents. This process will be considered on the examples of three similar institutions located in the village of Chechkino, Yarkovsky district, and the village of Alga, Tobolsk district, Tyumen region and also in the former village of Kazarovo, now part of the city of Tyumen. The most significant exhibits of the Tatar folk culture, which are sources of information about the people, are described. The materials for the study were the data of the complex expeditions of 2019–2022 organised in the Tyumen region by the G. Ibragimov Institute of Language, Literature and Art of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan within the framework of the state program “Preservation and development of the national identity of the Tatar people”.
