ABSTRACT. The paper is dedicated to the exhibition held at the MAE (Kunstkamera) RAS in July 2021 in honor of the 175th anniversary of the birth of N. N. Miklouho-Maclay. This is a resonant event for Russian science: the rich scientific heritage of the scientist, his extraordinary personality has always attracted the attention of researchers and biographers. Materials collected by Miklouho-Maclay “in the field”, and often in those corners of the earth where no European has ever set foot before, to this day remain the most valuable source for ethnographers and anthropologists. Moreover, researchers continue to find new archival sources, unknown and unpublished. At the exhibition there were presented items, collected by the researcher, his drawings, mostly in copies, as well as a few originals. For the first time were demonstrated anthropological photographs, which were a part of the archive of Mikhail Miklouho-Maclay, the researcher’s brother, and which were handed to the MAE RAS by Mikhail’s daughter Serafima only in 1927. The aim of the exhibition’s curators was to show a huge range of thematic and geographical materials, which reflect the breadth of interests of N. N. Miklouho-Maclay and the significance of his scientific heritage. Today it is still relevant: scientists around the world are studying these sources, including them in a modern research narrative.
